For me, the fact we are being beamed around the world is massive. One of the great beauties of strongman is its international appeal. It has to be. It’s human nature to want to witness incredible feats of strength; to know who on the planet is the strongest. This fight is no different. The heaviest bout ever. What will it look like? How powerful will these boxers be? And, ultimately, who will come out on top?
Make no mistake. Neither of us has taken this lightly. I have put my regular life on hold for so long that part of me can’t remember what it actually feels like not to be working, training, putting everything into making myself the absolute very best fighter I can be.
That’s how it has to be. Because of that devotion to the cause, when that bell rings I will step into the middle of the ring with absolute certainty about my ability to floor my opponent. It’s the same as anything in life – only if you work hard can you expect the rewards. Only by working hard can you develop the mental resilience to get you through the greatest of tests. I know, right now, as I visualise precisely how I’m going to win this fight, that body and mind are as one in their absolute strength of purpose.
