LIFE presents mountains. Some you get over at the first time of asking. Others present a different challenge. When I came up against Thor in that boxing ring in Dubai, I gave everything but just couldn’t quite reach the summit – not a bad comparison, Thor is six foot nine! In the end, that was probably the difference on the night. Thor’s height gave him the advantage of being hard to reach. He could stand and repel while I was the one who always had to fight.
Sport is win or lose. Of course, I’d rather be writing this as the winner of that bout, but that doesn’t mean I can’t take huge pride, not only in my performance, but in my determination to get into that ring. Don’t forget, Covid meant the run-up to the fight lasted more than two years. That’s a lot of focus, a lot of time, and I learnt plenty about discipline and resilience along the way.
Also, I challenge anyone to say that Eddie
Hall hasn’t got bottle. Put two men that size in a boxing ring and anything can happen. Those were tough, tough, rounds and I don’t see anyone queuing up to do the same. I like to be a pioneer, and I did it again.
The way boxing is, people will keep asking about a rematch. I’d rule nothing out because you just don’t know what might happen – never say never and all that. But I won’t be putting my life on hold. I have plenty of other irons in plenty of other fires – and, as ever, you’ll be the first to hear about them.
My mission is always, one way or another, to bring positivity into this world, and that’s what I’ll carry on doing. I thank you for the support you’ve given me every step of the way.
Seconds out for the next round in this crazy thing called life!
Take care and big love – Eddie.
