YOU might recently have seen footage of me cracking open a storage unit I bought at auction. It wasn’t, as you might think, my latest feat of strength. Actually, for a good while I’ve enjoyed the adventure of finding out just what the hell is inside these things.
Of course, there’s a risk involved. You could shell out a five-figure sum, break open the lock, and find nothing but a load of old bric-a-brac. On the other hand – and this is what keeps me intrigued – you might take a look and find what is basically a huge treasure chest.
Go on my YouTube channel now – www.youtube.com/@eddiehallwsm – and you’ll see me working my way inside a container I bought for £14,000. That sounds a lot of money – mainly because it is! – but sometimes these things can pay off. And this one very much did!
OK, the two sofas and an armchair I spied first up weren’t exactly going to make my money back! And while various tools and a cracking model train collection are always going to make a few quid, I was still waiting for the big find that would make the investment worthwhile.
Initially, my eyes lit up when I found two safes. This is where having your own tank comes in handy. I didn’t need to bring in a safecracker, I could just hop behind the wheel, drive several tonnes of military hardware over them, and discover the contents that way.
Unfortunately, those contents were sawdust!
There was one big chance left – a car hidden beneath a cover. Nine times out of ten you’ll pull that cover back and find something along the lines of a rusting Ford Sierra. Not this time. Get this – we had a silver Bentley on our hands. Value – the small matter of £40,000.
I suppose the thing is, even when I’m not competing, I like to bring a bit of uncertainty into my life. It makes for more than a little excitement, and also, hopefully, some good viewing for you – my YouTube channel is full of crazy, weird, entertaining, and funny stuff. If you haven’t taken a look, get yourself on there now!

Go on – give it a go! Let’s face it there’s nothing on TV if I’m not on it!
