08 Oct 17 | Eddie's new autobiography reveals his journey to the pinnacle
It’s something I never expected I’d be doing, writing a book about my life. It’s a bit of a weird feeling, but a brilliant one.
My life has moved on massively in recent years. I’ve reached the pinnacle of what I always wanted to achieve as a strongman. That’s quite a story to tell, quite a journey to have been on, and to see it up there on the bookshelves certainly does feel pretty cool.
For me, Strongman is about letting people see the real me. I want the fans to know me as best they can and this is me doing my best to give them an access all areas and no holds barred account of what has made me the Eddie Hall they see today. It’s also a chance for me to say a big thank you to the people who’ve helped me along the way.
For sure, there’ll be a lot of stuff that people don’t know about me, whether it’s getting in trouble at high school, my swimming career, how tough it was starting out in strongman, or the years I spent mending trucks as I battled my way to the top and won the World’s Strongest Man.
It’s hard sometimes for people to understand the dedication that goes into this sport. In fact I have met people along the way, some who should have known better, who don’t even consider it a sport. To reach the top in strongman takes a life’s dedication and sacrifice. I am the world’s best because I have never held back on that.
For me, the book is recognition of all the unseen days, hours, weeks, months, years of training and personal discipline it took to be the world number one. A normal bloke trying to do extraordinary thing, and getting there.
I’m proud to be able to share my story with you.
